What Are Kajabi and New Zenler?
Kajabi and New Zenler both are all-in-one hosted platforms for creating and selling online courses.
That means these apps have course creation, hosting, and course delivery features as the core and offer extensive site-building and sales and marketing capabilities on top of it.
On both, you can host your course content, structure them into courses, add quizzes and assignments, build a community, create sales pages, handle checkouts, build marketing funnels, and much more.
So, these platforms eliminate the need for course creators to buy and learn to use multiple apps.
Now, these solutions are different from a self-hosted learning management system. You don’t need to set up WordPress or install any themes and plugins.
Rather you just need to create an account, and you can then start working on your course website without worrying about any techy stuff.
However, there are many differences between the two platforms, and the biggest one is the stage of development.
Kajabi has been in the market for years and has undergone a long evolution process with regular feature additions and improvements, making it a well-evolved online platform. So you’ll hardly find any bugs or incomplete features.
On the other hand, launched in 2019, New Zenler is a pretty new player and still in beta. While it has made significant progress since its launch, you’ll still find kinks in the software.
And you’ll also find plenty of tools (e.g., email marketing) that are missing some very essential features and are kind of incomplete.
We’ll talk about the specifics of the platforms in the next chapters. Let’s begin our discussion with ease of use.
Ease of Use
Ease of use is an essential factor to consider while choosing a platform to create online courses. If it’s not simple to use, it will consume more time or require external help.
Plus, all-in-one solutions are supposed to be feature-rich. So if these features aren’t properly organized and easy to use, there will be a steep learning curve.
Kajabi and New Zenler both have clean user interfaces with well-organized menu options. You can learn them real quick and start using them in no time.
New Zenler has the main menus towards the top. When you click on the menu, the submenu opens on the left panel. Then, on the right side appears the tools related to the clicked menu option.
Kajabi has a bit different arrangement. Its menus are on the left panel. When you click on a menu option, it shows the submenus, and the working area appears on the right side.
Plus, you have the Kajabi Assistant bar at the top. It’s a search area on the header, where you can type anything, and the platform will show you the related features and help center articles.
Both ways work fine. The only issue with New Zenler’s interface is the aesthetic part. In some places, buttons and tabs are barely visible due to size and color.
The individual tools, such as the course builder, are drag and drop and quite easy to use. So it won’t take you much time to get used to them, regardless of your skills level.
However, Kajabi does a much better job than New Zenler at integrating all the individual tools together.
For example, there is a specific section for creating Automations in Kajabi. But then, you can also access Automations directly from your course builder, funnel builder, and almost from all sections.
On the other hand, New Zenler is completely the opposite. There are features scattered across different parts of your account.
For instance, it allows you to create automation rules as well. While these rules are available under individual sections, there is no single place to manage all your automation rules.
Overall, both platforms are fairly easy to use, even though the user experience in Kajabi is superior.
Course Creation and Engagement
The primary job of a course creation platform is to let creators build their courses the way they want them. Besides that, it enables the creators to provide a great learning experience to students.
In this section, we’ll see where Kajabi and New Zenler stand when it comes to course creation and engagement features.
Let’s begin with course building and structuring.
Course Builder
When you choose Kajabi or New Zenler, creating and structuring an online course is quite straightforward with their drag-and-drop course builders.
Both platforms offer:
- Unlimited hosting for your videos and other content
- Ability to add different content types (videos, audio files, images, PDFs, etc.)
The only difference here is that New Zenler allows adding SCORM/HTML files to your lessons, which isn’t possible in Kajabi.
When it comes to course structuring, Kajabi lets you add sections (Categories) and lessons (Posts), and it works in the same way with New Zenler. However, in Kajabi’s case, you can add another level — Subcategories, making it more flexible.
Kajabi’s course builder makes things further smooth through Product Blueprints. When you create a product, you can use one of these predefined product structures.
With both platforms, you can add content one by one or also bulk upload your content, and they’ll turn them into lessons automatically.
Plus, both allow you to import your content directly from cloud drives. The only difference here is that while Kajabi supports only Google Drive and Dropbox, New Zenler also supports Box and OneDrive.
Bulk uploading combined with cloud import significantly speeds up course creation on both platforms and is my favorite course builder feature.
New Zenler also has a Video Library to upload videos and use for multiple courses. While Kajabi doesn’t have a video library, it has the Recent Picker feature. It stores up to 100 recent files, including videos that you can use anywhere on your online courses and website.
There is one more aspect of the New Zenler course builder that I like a lot. It allows you to add multiple videos, texts, pdfs, and other content types in the same lesson and order them as you want.
Kajabi, on the other hand, doesn’t let you add multiple videos or a video and a quiz in the same lesson.
Having said that, both platforms provide intuitive course builders with an easy-to-use interface along with all the necessary features to quickly upload your content and structure your course.
Course Delivery
Your course player is the major interaction point between students and your online course. They influence user experience greatly and, thus, hold great importance.
In terms of the course player design, Kajabi performs way better than other online course platforms.
New Zenler has only one default course player template. However, the course player is well-designed, with a course navigation sidebar on the left and a big content area on the right.
While the course player looks good, there are some aesthetic issues like font size, spacing, etc.
Kajabi, on the other hand, offers 10+ course player themes (Product themes). It has different Product themes suitable for various products such as evergreen courses, membership sites, a library of standalone content, etc.
For instance, Kajabi has this Premier Theme, one of the cleanest and most elegant course area themes I have ever seen. This theme works very well for delivering a flagship course.
At the same time, you can use the Momentum theme if you want a more conventional, content-focused theme with a simple design.
Plus, Kajabi allows you to customize all the elements in your theme so that you can give your course a unique touch.
Now, let’s talk about the mobile learning experience.
Both Kajabi’s and New Zenler’s course players are mobile responsive by default, so your users will be able to watch your content on mobile without any issues.
One significant difference is that Kajabi offers free mobile apps (iOS and Android) for your students, so users can go through your content on Kajabi with lesser effort and have a better user experience.
New Zenler, at this point, doesn’t have a mobile app.
Overall, we have a clear winner in course area/player design — and that’s Kajabi.
Learning and Engagement
As a course creator, you want your students to get the most out of your course. For that, they must be engaged throughout your course.
In this section, we’ll talk about the learning and engagement tools that the two platforms offer.
Quizzes and Certificates
If testing student knowledge is important to you, you need the ability to create quizzes.
With both Kajabi and New Zenler, you get all the essential quizzing features. You can also set a passing score for your quizzes, so your students are automatically graded.
You can add multiple choice questions with single or multiple answers. With Kajabi, you can add a paragraph-type question as well.
However, New Zenler has advanced quizzing features such as randomization and timed quizzes, which are currently unavailable in Kajabi.
And then, it can display a progress bar and navigation buttons, which allow you to deliver a great quizzing experience.
New Zenler has put a lot of thought into adding all must-have quiz elements. The only thing that’s missing is the ability to import questions from an external file directly. Even Kajabi doesn’t have this feature.
However, there are a couple of areas where Kajabi does a better job.
Firstly, Kajabi Assessments can be used to create marketing quizzes for your website. You can use them to collect leads and segment your audience.
Secondly, quizzes created in Kajabi look much more polished than those created in New Zenler.
When it comes to assignments, New Zenler has a separate tool where students can add text-based input or upload a file.
The best part is — the app creates a comment area under the assignment lesson where a student can interact with the instructor privately.
In Kajabi, there is no separate tool for assignments. Instead, the Assessment tool supports a file upload question that you can use to create assignments.
However, unlike New Zenler, you can’t approve or reject assignment submission.
Overall, New Zenler beats Kajabi with advanced quizzing features and better assignment tools.
Now, let’s talk about certificates.
Kajabi doesn’t have a native certificate feature. And you’ll have to rely on an external solution like Google Slides or Accredible for creating and sending certificates.
But on New Zenler, native certificate creation is possible. It has six templates available for creating certificates, and you can even import templates if you want.
After you activate the certificate for a course, New Zenler will automatically send the certificate to your students on course completion.
Content Dripping and Locking
Kajabi and New Zenler have similar content dripping capabilities.
With both, you can create a dripping schedule and decide when to release your course modules instead of making them available immediately after student enrollment.
When it comes to course compliance, both platforms work differently. On Kajabi, you get the Lock Category feature. So, if students want to go through a particular section, they need to complete the prerequisite lesson.
The issue with this feature is it doesn’t allow creating a linear learning path.
On New Zenler, you can set any lesson as a Compulsory Lesson, and the students can’t move forward unless they complete that lesson.
I like New Zenler’s approach better as it gives you more flexibility.
Community
An online community can exponentially increase user engagement, and building one is simple on both Kajabi and New Zenler.
The community interface of both platforms is clean and has minimal elements.
You and your members can write a post, add images, upload videos, and paste links to embed media files. At the same time, it’s possible to like and comment on posts.
Whenever you add a post and want to share it with community members, it’s possible to send an automated email. Community owners also get some moderation tools such as deleting posts and turning off comments.
However, New Zenler lacks many community features. For instance, you and members can’t create topics, events, polls, or quizzes. Also, there’s no member directory or way for members to communicate privately.
And one of the biggest turn-offs is no mobile app. Without that, driving considerable user engagement is challenging.
Even Kajabi doesn’t have features such as events, polls, live streaming, and quizzes. Still, it can deliver superior community engagement for three reasons:
- It offers iOS and Android Apps, letting the community owner send push notifications and keep the discussion going.
- Community owners can create topics that keep the discussions organized and even pin a post to move it to the top of the community’s page.
- Kajabi’s members directly let members check each other’s profiles and even communicate privately.
Finally, Kajabi allows you to create both a standalone community as well as bundle one with your products. But with New Zenler, you can do the latter.
Therefore, Kajabi has better community features than New Zenler, and engagement is far better with the availability of mobile apps.
Coaching
Coaching is a feature exclusive to Kajabi, and New Zenler doesn’t have any similar tool.
You can create a one-on-one coaching program with a one-off session or multiple sessions packaged together with this feature.
You have to enter some basic details about your Coaching program, and then you need to choose how your students can book the sessions.
Now, you can put a link from any scheduling tool, including Calendly, with which Kajabi has a native integration.
So, your learners don’t need to request session details manually. Instead, they can access the Coaching Program from their dashboard, check the available slots, and make the booking.
Moreover, you can add an agenda, resources, and notes for each session. When a session gets over, you can mark it complete. In case you want to prompt customers to buy other Offers, there’s an upsell feature as well.
Overall, it’s an amazing feature for selling a single or series of one-on-one sessions. You can sell it separately or as a part of your course or membership.
Live Classes
Live classes are one of the best ways to improve student engagement.
With New Zenler, you have a separate feature called Live Class, where you can schedule live classes for your students.
It also has native integration with Zoom, so you don’t need to set up an event in Zoom separately. Also, you don’t need to pay for Zoom separately, which makes this feature more attractive.
Once you create a live class, New Zenler automatically creates all the pages, including the registration page, thank you page, waiting page, and replay page. Plus, you can also send confirmation and reminder emails for your live class.
Now, Kajabi doesn’t have an exclusive live class feature, and it works very differently.
It has a feature called Events, where you can schedule an event for your students. Here you can also specify the registration and reminder emails to be sent to your students.
Plus, you can create all the pages for your live class using the sales pipeline builder.
The only thing missing is a native Zoom integration, so you’ll have to schedule the same session in Zoom as well.
Automations
Both Kajabi and New Zenler have automation capabilities, but they differ significantly from each other.
Kajabi has a dedicated Automations feature that allows you to create when/then rules.
It supports numerous triggers such as member inactivity, lesson completion, form submission, etc.
And then, there are actions such as sending emails, granting or revoking offers, adding or removing from email sequence, adding or removing tags, sending an email, etc.
For example, you can automatically send a personalized email to an inactive student using Automations. Or, you can also send personalized resources to your students when they fail an assessment.
New Zenler, on the other hand, doesn’t have a dedicated Automations feature. However, it does allow you to create automation rules inside the individual tools area.
But it has limited triggers and actions, and you don’t have much flexibility here.
For example, New Zenler has three triggers for courses – course enrollment, lesson completion, and course completion. You don’t have triggers such as member inactivity or quiz submission, which makes the functionality limited.
Course Creation – The Bottom Line
In a nutshell, both course builders are good, allowing you to easily structure your content and create an online course, even though Kajabi is far better in terms of the course player and end-user experience.
New Zenler gets a thumbs up for quizzing and certificates features, whereas Kajabi dominates with mobile apps, better community features, Coaching, and Automations.
Site Design and Customization
Your course website and sales pages are key for attracting potential students and converting them into customers. Plus, your website is important for building a brand identity.
Therefore, one should wisely choose an online course platform that offers the required website creation features.
To start with, there are some essential things that both Kajabi and New Zenler have:
- Free subdomain and option to add a custom domain
- Unlimited free hosting and free SSL certificate
- Managed security, maintenance, and updates
- Complete white-labeled websites
Now, we will check the key site creation aspects of Kajabi vs New Zenler to find out which one does a better job.
Website Themes
Website themes make it a lot quicker to build a website and easily define your site’s look, feel, and style.
With Kajabi, you have eight website themes, all having a clean, minimal design. Besides these themes, you can choose from six more in the Legacy Themes archive.
These themes can be installed on your website with a single click, and then you can customize further using the page builder. This lets you have a unique website without much less effort.
Plus, Kajabi gives you the option to modify the code of an existing theme. Or, you can build one from scratch and import it into Kajabi.
In the case of New Zenler, you don’t get any theme library but just a default template. With that, you have a few site-level branding options.
You can add a logo, select font, and define colors for web pages, course area, and community.
But that’s it. For further customization, you need to use the page builder.
So, it’s easier and quicker to build and manage a full-fledged website in Kajabi than in New Zenler.
Page Builder
While themes are good for defining the site-level look and feel, you also need the capability to build individual pages as you like. This is where a page builder comes into the picture.
Both Kajabi and New Zenler offer an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop page builder.
Kajabi’s page builder has a simple interface, with page Sections and settings in the left panel and a live preview of the page on the right.
To add a new Section, you need to click on the Add Section button in the left panel. Kajabi has 40+ preset Sections you can choose from. These include the hero section, course listing, image gallery, FAQs, blog posts, pricing section, etc.
Plus, you can always build a custom Section from scratch.
To edit a page Section or Blocks within it, you can either click on it in the preview area or from the left sidebar. And then you’ll see all the options for modifying text, font, and color, adjusting padding and margins, adding animation effects, etc.
Plus, you can easily move the Blocks in a section around, and if required, even delete them.
Moving to New Zenler, the page builder is equally good. It has 20+ predefined Blocks (sections) for adding a page header, course description, FAQs, pricing section, opt-in forms, etc.
Like Kajabi, you can edit these page blocks, change font/color/spacing settings, add animation effects, etc.
The only major difference between the two page builders is that New Zenler has multiple templates for the page blocks. So, for example, if you add a ‘header section to your page, you can choose from the multiple available templates.
Otherwise, using both page builders is straightforward, and they give you full control over your page design.
Blogging and Podcast
If you want to build a blog on your website, you’ll be glad to know that both Kajabi and New Zenler offer inbuilt blogging tools.
For writing blog posts, both offer a simple, user-friendly text editor. Plus, you can add a featured image, customize the post URL, and set a category.
Moreover, both platforms offer similar SEO options. You can add a meta title, a meta description, social media images, etc.
Overall, both platforms have similar blogging tools, and you can use them to build a fully-functional blog for your brand.
Moving to podcasts, this is an exclusive Kajabi feature.
It allows you to create podcast episodes, host your audio files, and distribute to popular platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
To create a podcast, you just need to add basic info, set the host’s name, language, and category. Then, you need to create episodes by uploading your audio file, and that’s it.
What more? You can create a public podcast for your website visitors or, you can charge for access to your podcast as well.
Website Creation – The Bottom Line
Both Kajabi and New Zenler offer unlimited hosting, a free SSL certificate, the ability to add a custom domain, and white-labeling.
Their page builders are equally powerful. Just that Kajabi has multiple website themes, allowing you to create a full-fledged website more easily.
Moreover, Kajabi has an inbuilt Podcasts feature, making it a clear winner in site design and customization.
Sales and Marketing
Most online course platforms only offer necessary features for selling online courses. However, these two have a complete suite of products that eliminate the need to use multiple tools for different marketing and sales purposes.
Their sales and marketing capabilities make New Zenler vs Kajabi an even more exciting competition to watch.
But, which one’s better?
Product Pricing Options
In terms of pricing your products, Kajabi and New Zenler are almost the same. Both platforms allow you to:
- Offer a free course, charge one-time payment, create subscriptions and payment plans.
- Set pricing in almost any currency.
- Create payment options for courses and bundles and define what you want students to access.
- Charge your members weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Plus, you can create a free trial or charge a one-time setup fee for subscriptions.
- Add an expiry date to one-time purchases.
- Limit the number of student enrollments.
- Generate coupons to offer fixed or percentage-based discounts.
However, the process of pricing your products is different.
With New Zenler, you can create courses and simply set the pricing. If you want, you can bundle multiple courses and/or communities together and then set pricing for the bundle as a whole.
Kajabi treats courses, community, podcasts, coaching, etc., as Products and pricing isn’t tied to these products directly. Instead, you create an Offer to add a single product or bundle multiple products and set pricing.
Both approaches work pretty well and give you enough flexibility.
So, with either platform, you can price your products the way you want, bundle and sell multiple products together, and create multiple product tiers.
Payments and Checkouts
You need a payment gateway to process payments, and it’s always good to have more payment gateway integrations.
In terms of gateways, Kajabi and New Zenler both integrate with Stripe and PayPal. Additionally, New Zenler integrates with Razorpay. Plus, you can use all these gateways for one-time and recurring transactions.
Now, let’s talk about the checkout process, one of the most crucial conversion factors.
On both Kajabi and New Zenler, you get a one-step checkout process where students need to create an account only after the payment is made.
Checkout pages on both platforms are well-designed from a conversion point of view. You can add a money-back guarantee badge, testimonials, benefits, and any media elements you want.
Moreover, you can add order bumps and 1-click upsells on both platforms, leading to a better customer lifetime value.
One significant difference between the two platforms is abandoned cart tracking.
Kajabi lets you track cart abandonment and send an automated reminder email to users who left without making the payment. And if you want to customize the email, that’s possible too.
One option that’s missing in Kajabi but present in New Zenler is EU VAT handling. New Zenler doesn’t just allow you to calculate and collect EU VAT, but they can also file it on your behalf.
For Kajabi, you’ll need to integrate with third-party tax solutions such as Quaderno.
Marketing Funnels
One of the most important offerings of these two platforms is a marketing funnel builder. The idea is to let you seamlessly and quickly create marketing workflows.
On Kajabi, the feature is known as Sales Pipeline Builder. Kajabi’s pipeline builder has six pipeline blueprints.
For instance, you can use the Product Launch OVO Blueprint to create a video series to launch your online course.
Similarly, if you want to use webinars to sell online courses, you can use the Zoom Webinar OVO blueprint.
When you choose a blueprint, Kajabi puts all the pipeline components, such as landing pages, forms, email sequence, checkout page, etc., together.
Moreover, you can completely customize a pipeline. For example, you can add new pages or email campaigns, remove existing ones, and reorder them.
And then, you can customize individual pipeline elements (pages, email sequences, etc.)
For example, you can click on a landing page and customize the page design using Kajabi’s page builder.
Now, New Zenler calls the feature Marketing Funnels. Here you have two blueprints – Lead Magnet and Video Series.
After selecting a funnel type, you have to add a few details, select the theme, and it’s done.
New Zenler will create all the landing pages for you, and like Kajabi, you can add new pages, reorder them, or remove the existing ones.
While all this sounds good, there are certain major limitations in New Zenler’s marketing funnel builder.
The funnel builder is pretty restrictive because you can only add certain types of pages to your funnel. For example, you can’t add a sales page or a checkout page to your funnel.
As you only have two funnel types, it’s impossible to create funnels for every requirement. And if you want to start with one of these and tweak it to use it for some other purpose, you won’t be able to do it.
Plus, funnel building in New Zenler is a bit confusing. When you create a course or a webinar, they create a funnel automatically.
But you can’t access these funnels under the marketing funnels tab. Rather you’ll have to go to the individual course to find the funnel, which isn’t how it should be.
Also, you don’t get an option to add a new page or reorder pages in these automatically generated funnels.
Finally, the user experience isn’t even close to what you get with Kajabi.
With Kajabi, you can do all the customizations to your pipeline inside the builder itself. So when you click on a page, the page builder opens in the same interface, making the funnel building experience amazing.
On the other hand, when you edit a page in New Zenler’s funnel builder, it opens the page builder in a new tab, and the experience isn’t as smooth.
Besides marketing funnels, you can create standalone landing pages and popups on both platforms, and the capabilities are pretty similar.
Email Marketing
Email marketing is a brilliant way to nurture leads and sell your products. And, it’s expected that an all-in-one online course platform offers email marketing features.
With Kajabi, you have a couple of features for contact management. So you can add tags to your users or add them to segments.
When it comes to email campaigns, you can create a broadcast or an automated sequence.
The process of creating emails is pretty simple. You can choose from one of the available email templates and edit it using the email editor.
The only problem is that you can’t send two or more emails in an automated campaign in one day at different hours.
Other than that, Kajabi allows you to create and send sequences as you like.
Now, the way you automate your email marketing is by using the Automations feature. It allows you to create when/then rules for automating various actions.
The good thing is that there are numerous triggers and actions, giving you a lot of flexibility regarding what you can do.
Talking about New Zenler, it works similarly. So you can add tags, send broadcasts, create email sequences, and automate the process as well.
However, the similarities end here.
Firstly, there is no dedicated section for managing your email campaigns or automations. These are only available as part of individual tools – courses, marketing funnels, and webinars, making overall management very difficult.
Secondly, there are no templates for email broadcasts or sequences, and you can only send plain-text emails. Moreover, the text editor has fewer editing, personalization, and formatting options.
Thirdly, there is a limited number of triggers available in the automation rules. For example, funnels have just the “on subscription” trigger, so you can send an email only when someone submits a form.
Even the most basic triggers are missing:
- Tag is added/removed
- Email is sent/opened/clicked
- Email sequence is completed
This limits what you can do with New Zenler in terms of email marketing.
For example, if you want to create a funnel where the users get the same initial 3-4 emails and, depending on engagement (opens, clicks, etc.), add them to different sequences, it won’t be possible in New Zenler.
Overall, New Zenler’s email marketing tools aren’t good enough to replace a specialized solution (e.g., ConvertKit), and this is one big incomplete piece on the platform.
On the other hand, Kajabi’s email marketing tools are way better, giving it a big edge as an all-in-one solution.
Affiliate Marketing
If you want to run an affiliate program for your course business, Kajabi and New Zenler both have what you need.
They offer necessary features such as setting affiliate commissions, creating shareable links, and providing affiliates with a private dashboard. Plus, you can select the products you want your affiliates to promote.
With both platforms, your affiliates will be able to track link visits, overall sales, and commissions through their private dashboards.
However, there are a few things that you can do in Kajabi but not in New Zenler:
- You can customize the cookie tracking period for your affiliate program.
- Your affiliates can link to a site outside your Kajabi website.
- You can customize your commission rates at a course level.
- Kajabi tracks form submissions for the affiliates, so you can get them to promote your lead magnets as well.
Overall, Kajabi does a better job at affiliate marketing, even though both platforms have all the essential features.
Sales and Marketing – The Bottom Line
Both platforms have essential tools for pricing your products, building a checkout page, and running an affiliate program. New Zenler also lets you calculate and collect EU VAT natively.
Otherwise, Kajabi’s pipeline builder and email marketing tools are light years ahead of those in New Zenler, making Kajabi a more complete all-in-one platform.
Reporting and Administration
Reporting and analytics tools are vital for making data-driven decisions. On the other hand, administration tools help manage your platform and members easily.
These tools are necessary for running an online course business, and here we’ll see how the two platforms perform.
Reporting Tools
Starting with New Zenler, you get quick information about unique visitors, leads, site signups, enrollments, and recent orders on your dashboard.
Further, you get a separate Reports section where you have four different reports – Sales, Affiliates, Course Progress, and Quiz & Survey.
Sales Report offers insights into your course sales. You can also run a detailed report, which will provide the information about each sales transaction.
The Course Progress Report has information about course enrollments, starts, progress, and completions. There’s also an option to run a detailed report to check each individual’s progress data for various courses.
You can run all these reports for a custom period and select specific courses.
Now, let’s talk about Kajabi. Here you have an exclusive Analytics section with multiple reports available for different purposes. It has commonly used reports like page views, sales, course progress, affiliate performance, etc.
All the reports are well designed and provide comprehensive insights. You can set custom views – daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. It’s also possible to filter the info for specific Offers and Products.
And then, there are a few areas that make Kajabi’s reporting capabilities stand out:
- It has a dedicated report for subscriptions to track monthly recurring revenue (MRR), average revenue per user (ARPU), and churn rate.
- Kajabi reports have graphs and visual representations for better information delivery, which is missing in New Zenler.
- It also has inbuilt video analytics that lets you know engagement rate, play rate, and total plays for your videos.
People Management
In terms of people management, Kajabi and New Zenler perform quite similarly.
You can easily add users to your platform one at a time or in bulk, and you can enroll them in your courses/bundles/Offers.
And then, you can track the entire lifecycle of an individual from the first point of engagement to the current status.
The only difference is that with Kajabi, you can select multiple members and perform certain actions while you can’t do any bulk actions except deleting users in New Zenler.
User Roles and Privileges
Both platforms allow you to add admin users to your website, facilitating easier site administration.
Whereas Kajabi offers three different roles, New Zenler provides four. The only significant difference is the Instructor role.
New Zenler allows you to add instructors who can manage specific courses, students, and live sessions. So if you want to start a multiple-instructor online school, you can easily do that in New Zenler.
Third-Party Integrations
Both Kajabi and New Zenler perform well in terms of offering third-party integrations.
Both provide integration with Mailchimp, ConvertKit, and ActiveCampaign. Besides that, Kajabi offers integration with Aweber and Drip, and New Zenler has MailerLite and Moosend.
These are the most popular email marketing solutions, so these integrations should cover a majority of course creators.
In addition, both platforms have a robust Zapier integration with many triggers and actions. So, you can connect with any third-party app that doesn’t have a direct integration with the tools.
For analytics, both tools can connect with Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel. In addition, you can connect with any analytics and tracking solution that requires placing a script on your site.
Finally, one exclusive integration feature is New Zenler’s public API key that you can use to create advanced integrations with other platforms.
Let’s say you want to integrate with a community platform such as Circle. You can create a seamless integration between the two using New Zenler’s API functionality.
Customer Support
Customer support matters a lot while selecting an online course app. If a platform has good support, issues are likely to get resolved easily and quickly, leading to lesser interruptions in your business.
Let’s first talk about Kajabi. It has the best customer service among all the online course platforms.
It offers friendly and responsive 24X7 live chat. You can easily click on the help option in the left navigation bar and start the chat.
Besides live chat, Kajabi offers a comprehensive and well-organized help center that has placed articles under categories and subcategories. All these articles have video tutorials and screenshots for better understanding.
Unlike Kajabi, New Zenler doesn’t have a live chat feature. Instead, there’s a chat widget where you can add the query and the team gets back to you in the widget and email. It may take a few hours or a day for them to reply to you.
Therefore, if you need immediate support, that’s not possible through Zenler’s hybrid chat option.
Instead, you can try Zenler’s help center. There are 70+ articles divided into multiple categories.
The articles are well-written and full of screenshots and video tutorials. However, the knowledge base doesn’t cover a few topics and isn’t as comprehensive.
Lastly, both apps have their private Facebook group where creators can join to get updates, discuss, and interact with other creators.
As nothing beats real-time support, Kajabi is a clear winner with its live chat. Also, Kajabi’s help center is better than what New Zenler offers.
Pricing Plans
We have covered all the features. But, pricing is one factor that can highly influence any course creator’s decision. Therefore, our Kajabi vs New Zenler article won’t be complete without comparing the pricing options.
All Kajabi and New Zenler plans offer unlimited bandwidth, unlimited hosting and charge 0% transaction fees.
Note that though no app offers a free plan, you can get a free trial on Kajabi while you can try the free beta on New Zenler.
Starting with Kajabi’s pricing plans, there are three options:
- The Basic Plan, their entry-level plan, comes for $149/month.
- The Growth Plan, their most popular plan, costs $199/month.
- The Pro Plan, the highest tier, costs $399/month.
Kajabi’s Basic plan has all the important features except affiliate marketing. However, you can create only three products and three pipelines and have 1,000 active students on the Basic plan. For increased limits, you’ll need the Growth plan.
New Zenler pricing has only two plans:
- Pro Plan ($67/month)
- Premium Plan ($197/month)
And everything except custom roles and SSO functionality is available on the lower tier as well. Plus, there are fewer restrictions.
So, there are some major differences between the two platforms in terms of pricing:
- New Zenler’s starting price is much lower than Kajabi’s.
- Kajabi limits the number of products and active students you can have in your school, while New Zenler gives you unlimited students and courses on all plans.
- New Zenler allows you to create three websites on the $67/month plan, while you can create multiple websites only on Kajabi’s $399/month plan.
Overall, New Zenler is super affordable compared to Kajabi and all other solutions in the course platform space. It offers an all-in-one solution with no restrictions for just $67/month, which is unbeatable.
However, the product is still in beta, and the price is likely to increase after the stable release.
